In 1961 Bert DeMarsh branched out on his own to start a business that specialized in the rapidly expanding commercial laundry industry. This was a bold move, but Bert had a vision of helping like-minded entrepreneurs build and profit from self-serve laundromats.
Bert’s vision expanded beyond his expectations when his son, David, joined the business in 1969. BDS Laundry Systems, or Business Development Sales as it was known in the early days, grew into a diverse company spanning many different markets. Once David took the reins in 1979, BDS was the “go to” place to buy commercial laundry equipment for apartment buildings, hotels and motels and coin laundries. BDS also sold an array of replacement parts and specialized in servicing all of the major brands of machines — a tradition that continues today with a nationwide parts business and team of factory-certified service technicians.
BDS Laundry Systems has come a long way from its storefront beginnings in the 1960s. With the addition of Erica DeMarsh-Ginkel and Danielle DeMarsh, BDS Laundry Systems is now a three-generation company — one of only a few remaining commercial laundry distributors to reach this level of longevity.
BDS has stood the test of time by listening to customers’ wants and needs, adapting to changes in the marketplace and building lifelong partnerships — one customer at a time.
