How to wash sweaters
The holiday season is back and that means it’s time to dust off that ugly holiday sweater from last year’s family or office party. The problem is you haven’t paid much attention to that sweater since last year and it doesn’t pass the smell test once. Don’t worry, we got you covered. Follow this quick guide and you’ll know the ins and outs of how to wash sweaters before the in-laws call you out for the same stain from two Christmases ago. Fill a sink with cold water and add a gentle detergent. Turn your sweater inside out – this is especially important for sweaters with decorations like all our favorite ugly sweaters this time of year – and swish around in the sink. Then let it soak for 30 minutes. Rinse under cool water. Gently squeeze out the water from the sweater. Do not twist or ring out the water – this damages the fabric. Once you’ve squeezed out the majority of the water roll the sweater up in a dry towel to absorb the excess water. Lay flat on a dry towel or drying rack and leave until it is fully dry. How to store sweaters Outside of…

UniMac’s UT Series Single Tumble Dryer With the exclusive UniLinc System these dryers provide the same efficiency, control options, performance information and maintenance reminders as the washer extractors. These programs make the UT Series dryers extremely easy to…

The Importance of Washing Turnout Gear: Eagan Fire Department
Laundry isn’t at the forefront of firefighters’ minds while responding to a call but washing turnout gear is one of the most important facets of promoting a clean fire station and healthy crew. BDS Laundry Systems has been a partner with the Eagan Fire Department since 2011 when it opened the first Green Globes-certified fire safety facility in the nation. Energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and most notably, firefighter safety are of utmost importance to Fire Chief Mike Scott, these standards helped open the door for BDS to provide the best laundry equipment exceeding NFPA standards and prolonging the life of all turnout gear for Chief Scott and the Eagan Fire Department. Chief Mike Scott of Eagan Fire Department with the UniMac PPE Turnout Gear Cabinet and the UniMac UC Washers When Chief Scott began his career as a firefighter in the 1980s having turnout gear covered in soot was a “badge of honor” and washing gear merely consisted of a quick hose down from fellow firefighters. By not washing turnout gear this soot releases carcinogens like sulfur dioxides and nitrogen oxides into the air. Over exposure to carcinogens comes with a price including coronary heart disease, asthma, bronchitis and other…
BDS Laundry Systems Equips Twin Cities Area Hotels
BDS Laundry Systems spent time late in the summer and early this fall outfitting Twin Cities area hotels with industry-leading commercial laundry equipment to satisfy their unique OPL needs. Hyatt Place in downtown St. Paul and the brand new Woodbury Residence Inn have exceptional amenities and first rate accommodations which require a plethora of clean linens, towels, uniforms and much more. With the variety of loads and unique laundry room layouts or foundations in hotel laundry rooms it’s important to find the right machine by analyzing the specific needs. BDS Laundry Systems works with laundry room managers to meet these requirements while helping reduce labor and utility costs and increasing throughput. Hyatt Place in Downtown St. Paul The Downtown St. Paul Hyatt Place is a beautiful building built in 1933. Older buildings tend to have weaker foundations which can’t absorb the full vibrations from a hardmount washer. To combat this, we installed three UniMac softmount washer extractors and UniMac industrial Tumble Dryers in the Hyatt Place’s laundry room. Softmount washers are designed to absorb the majority of the vibration throughout the wash within the machine significantly limiting damage to the foundation. The Hyatt Place features 149 rooms with an…
